In the past, several people have archived the two lists and so you can
possibly find the answer you are looking for with a modification of
the "general" searched I included.

sox has an iffy enough quality of released versions that not all will work
properly with rivendell. they also make or at some point made incompatible
changes to the command line arguments.
the rivendell guys (i am not one) did the testing and found a version of sox
that worked. that is the one they recommend.
they may be working on removing the dependency on sox iirc.
